The client for this project wanted their home to reflect the essence of a tropical resort, which meant lots of outdoor living space, including an “outdoor” living space for their cat, tropical plant motifs, and a very zen steam shower.
One of the biggest undertakings in this project was the front door. A completely custom door made from teak and mahogany wood and custom hand-crafted stained glass greets you as you enter this tropical abode. A gecko rests on the door handle, waiting for you to come in and a custom light fixture was installed just above the door to help illuminate the beauty of the stained glass.
The back living area is reminiscent of a tropical paradise in Thailand. A custom wooden bridge leads you from the sitting area to the pool. Large wooden pilings tied together with nautical rope create boundaries within the space while also reminding you of boat docks in Bali. Lush landscape, a custom fire pit, and wicker seating all add tranquility to this backyard oasis.
As you step inside you will find some eclectic pieces such as a mid-century style custom bookshelf and window trim, which was designed to allow for tiny paws to travel along. A custom desk was designed and built for the home office as well.
The bathroom was transformed into a spa-like steam shower. Pebble stone tile was used on the floor and walls to continue the island-feel. A curved shower bench, large ceiling mount rain head, and contemporary shower fixtures complete the spa-like steam shower. A huge Bisazza mural of a face was installed on an accent wall and up-lit for a dramatic effect. Soft grey tiles, an existing pedestal sink, and a funky custom mirror all give this bathroom character and reflect the client’s personal touch.
