Rustic charm meets California ranch in this transitional style ranch house.
While wearing familiar Cliff May architecture, this project breaks the traditional ranch style mold with interiors that blend farmhouse elements with stream-lined design. McCarter made sure to add his own twist to the exterior by tapering the porch columns on this project to balance the rambling overhangs.
To create a cohesive design, McCarter sprinkled hints of Cliff May’s style inside as well. The small, understated tile fireplace and custom lighting fixtures are examples of May’s influence on the interior.
Perhaps the most outstanding of all is the gorgeous 12 foot tall fireplace in the family room, made of stones and boulders sourced directly from the property. The large driftwood art piece in the center of the fireplace was commissioned in Bali.
